Sandy’s Scouts at Buhl Park
Sandy’s Scouts is a family-based, year-round, outdoor learning program with 40+ badges (activities) to accomplish. Buhl Park will host one activity a month for the Sandy’s Scout program, provide a basic educational lesson, and then a guided activity to accomplish a related badge. All programs are loosely-structured and outdoors (weather-permitting).
Simply put, we want to encourage families to get outside and explore! Once registered, attendance at any given program is not required. The programs are hosted to help your scout achieve badges. Your family can attend as many Sandy’s Scout programs as you want.
Programs/Meetings
Most programs meet at Sandy’s Place on a weekday evening from 6-7pm. Annual programs include an overnight camping night at the park, a fall night hike, canoeing on Lake Julia, and more. Once registered, attendance at any given program is not required. The programs are hosted to help your scout achieve badges. Your family can attend as many Sandy’s Scout programs as you want.
Ages
4 to 9 years old (this is a family program, and all scouts must be accompanied by an adult for all programs). While the Sandy’s Scout program is geared towards these ages, we encourage siblings to join the scout in any programs and help the scout achieve different badges.
Badges
40+ active, outdoor badges, including…
- Play in the rain
- Climb a tree
- Build an igloo
- Cook over a campfire
- Explore a cave
- Catch fish with nets
Cost
For a one-time fee of $15 per, your child will receive an official Sandy’s Scout field notebook to record their adventures and badge progress, as well as admission to all monthly Sandy’s Scout programs. Registration is required to become a Sandy’s Scout. Please follow the button in the green box to submit your registration online.
